Symmetrical Design

This home, built in a 7000 sq. ft. area, is designed in a symmetrical style by architect Naseer Khan who believes in combining order and balance to create beauty. The client Dr. Abdurahiman wanted to build a home with all facilities in a one-acre plot. The two main demands of the owner were that the elevation should follow a tomb pattern and the house should have a swimming pool.

The elevation of the two-storied home is completely set in a classic style. But inside, the designer has followed a contemporary design. When we enter the home, we can see a large triple height area which forms the most attractive highlight of the residence. The staircase is  grand and showy. There are a few windows on the centre tomb which help to usher in natural light inside. The family lounge is set in the central hall, with the walls around carrying pictures, portraits and showcases with curios.  The dining room is designed based on a classical concept. Yet, one finds that a simple design theme has been made use of, throughout the home.

One bedroom out of five has been renovated as a home theatre as per the need of the client. Italian and Diana marbles are used for flooring. Teak wood and onyx marble are used for the staircase. There is lighting inside the steps as well. The guest living room is made attractive by imported furniture set with simple decoration work.  Gypsum work has been done in the background of the cove lights. The table made of Italian marble facilitates 12 to 14 persons to have food. The crockery shelf in the dining area is made of teak wood. The prayer room is set in a very private space, having separate doors from the living area and central hall. There is a facility to play snooker in the sitting space near by the son’s bedroom. The home theatre having an aqua sticks system is decorated with gypsum work, wall paper and carpet. There is a cosy lounge beside the pool surrounded by artificial grass.

The wall at the headrest side of the master bedroom is decorated with granite work and reading lights. The bathroom is set in a black and white colour theme. The counter top wash basin and wall hanging closets provide glamour to the bathroom. A check design theme is used in the daughter’s bedroom. The kitchen follows an island pattern and is designed in a colour combination of grey and white. With an attached breakfast table and space for work area, it is provided with laminated plywood cupboards.
